Chief Negomo up for fraud

HARARE - Luscious Chibvongodze, popularly known as Chief Negomo has been arraigned before a Bindura magistrate after he reportedly stole presidential farming inputs for the 2013/2014 season.

Chibvongodze appeared before the court yesterday to answer to fraud charges.

It is alleged that Chibvongodze made a misrepresentation to the Grain Marketing Board, intending to deceive Sondelani Mhlanga.

Chibvongodze reportedly compiled a list of 140 different people.

He allegedly misrepresented to Mhlanga that the names belonged to beneficiaries of ward 14 and 16 from the Mazowe district, who were entitled to the 2013/2014 presidential summer cropping season inputs.

According to court papers, after presenting the list, Chibvongodze was given 140 x 50kg of fertiliser, which he reportedly converted to his own use.

Chibvongodze became famous after he summoned MDC president Morgan Tsvangirai over claims that he had breached traditional laws in his area by marrying during the month of November.
