Zim to host French artist

HARARE - French arts expert Camille Bourdier will jet into Zimbabwe tomorrow for a conference at the invitation of Alliance Francaise Harare and the French Embassy.

Bourdier, a senior lecturer in Prehistoric Art at Toulouse University in France and a member of the Chaviet Cave Research Team, is in Zimbabwe to study Zimbabwe’s rock art and to educate locals about the French rock art.

Alliance Francaise executive director Franck Chabasseur told the Daily News that they are delighted to host the French art expert.

“The conference is part of a culture exchange between Zimbabwe and France and this will also help the two countries to have better relations,” said Chabasseur.

The Alliance Francaise chief added that Bourdier will mainly focus on the best Prehistoric rock art in France such as Chauvet, Cussac cave and Roc-aux-sorciers.

The conference to be held at the Old Mutual Theatre is expected to be attended by art galleries, museums and others with a passion for art.
