Afdis cheers consumers

HARARE - Listed wine and spirit maker African Distillers (Afdis) has given local imbibers something to smile about following yesterday’s launch of a new promotion that will see consumers walking away with various prices — including a house.

Afdis marketing manager Donna Marowa said the promotion was not only aimed at offering three houses to imbibers, but also providing consumers with an incentive to engage with the company’s Gold Blend whisky.

“The objective of this promotion is to increase consumption of Gold Blend Whisky in the face of stiff competition and depressed sales due to prevailing economic hardships which have resulted in little or disposable income,” she said.

Marowa added that the promotion will support access to housing, an economic, social and cultural right recognised in many national constitutions and in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

“We are aware of the housing challenges that our consumers face and as a responsible corporate citizen we feel we can’t just fold our hands.

“We strive to refresh our consumers, reward our stakeholders and enhance the lives of our local communities. Our message therefore, is here is an opportunity to own your own house,” she said.

Zimbabwe has an estimated housing backlog of 1,5 million units.

The promotion, dubbed “Think out of the box and win a house” and running from April 2016 up to September 30, 2016, has also resulted in Afdis slashing prices for the whisky by seven (7) and three (3) percent for the 750ml and 200ml respectively.

Other prices to be won include branded T-shirts, caps and tumblers among others.
