Zanu PF re-admits 'Mujuru MPs'

HARARE - Fearful of losing the eagerly-anticipated 2018 national elections, a panicky Zanu PF has just re-admitted three legislators linked to former Vice President Joice Mujuru’s Zimbabwe People First in Mashonaland East, who were facing expulsion from the party.

The provincial executive resolved to boot out National Assembly members Tendayi Makunde (Murehwa North), Felix Tapiwa Mhona (Chikomba Central) and Washington Musvaire (Maramba Pfungwe) in December last year — going to the extent of forwarding their recommendation to this effect to Zanu PF’s National Disciplinary Committee (NDC).

But with 2018 promising to be a tough election year, the NDC — headed by Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko — has let the beleaguered trio off the hook, after it recently heard their cases, choosing instead to just reprimand them.

Provincial secretary for administration Lawrence Katsiru told the Daily News yesterday that, as a result, his executive was now going around the province encouraging party supporters to work with the legislators again.

“The information we initially had about them was to the effect that the MPs were working for People First, but we have since realised after they appeared before the disciplinary committee that it was nothing serious as it was just differences in opinion.

“They were well-received when we informed party membership in Murehwa at the weekend that we had withdrawn our recommendations for their expulsion,” Katsiru said.

However, the pardoned MPs — while welcoming the move to let them off the hook — have called upon the party to be clearer regarding their status, as they allege that they are still being required to seek permission to address meetings in their constituencies.

“I need to know my status because at the moment I have two letters with me, one that reprimands me and another one that says I am suspended. There is nothing to suggest that my suspension has been lifted.

“I still have to beg those that I beat during primary elections for permission to hold a rally in my own constituency, so my hands are tied,” Musvaire said.

Meanwhile, Katsiru has commended suspended Mashonaland East provincial chairperson Joel Biggie Matiza for “not causing confusion” in the province following his purging — as is the case in Masvingo and Midlands where Kizito Chivamba and Ezra Chadzamira are defying their suspensions.

“He has behaved very well thus far because he has not attempted to create parallel structures like what we are hearing elsewhere. We will wait to hear what the party says regarding his case and we will work with that guidance,” he said.

Matiza was recently suspended along with Chadzamira and Chivamba on allegations of disrespecting the First Family.

Diibulaanyika - 23 March 2016

Zanu Pf is not at all worried about 2018 elections because they know that they will still be in power after the elections. They will do what they had been doing all the years. They will simply employ dirty tactics and Chematama will say they were not free and fair and yet the Zanu Pf's chosen election observers will say they were "fair but not quite free" .But at the end of it all Mugabe will still be there and for us it will be suffer continue. Tsvanagirai will never dislodge Mugabe no matter how much we the electorate would wish for.The man is all but useless. In fact he is the one who caused all the suffering we are going through right now. Before the 1999 referendum and the formation of his party ,industries were ticking and qualified people would get jobs easily, but now because of him industries have been closing down since 2000. Those who hope one day Tsvangirai will rule this country are daydreaming coz its never gonna happen as long as Mugabe is alive.Come 2017 December the soldiers and the police will be paid their salaries and bonuses in time and then asked to "deal" with the innocent electorate. You will see then how many members of the opposition will still be in the rural areas where Mugabe will win all constituencies while Chematama is daydreaming at Harvest House.

chimuti - 23 March 2016

Amazing bit of logic there, chimuti. ZANU will employ every dirty trick to stay in power and continue destroying Zim, yet somehow its all Tsvangirai's fault because he is useless?!! What have you as an individual done to support the man in all the battles he has fought against ZANU? You want him to go and confront the CIO, the Army, the Green bombers , etc etc , all on his own to prove how useful he is? The guy has staying power and holds most right thinking Zimbos together. Meantime, ZANU is imploding as these evil people fight over the bones of our country.

Dunlop Munjanja - 23 March 2016

Yes , he can not do it on his own, so if no one is able to confront the cio.the police and the army , then which other strategy has he got?Everyone can say "Mugabe must go now" which has become Tsvangirai's slogan, but will Mugabe go because Tsvangirai has held a rally in Chitungwiza and told the people the same old story he had been saying since 2000.He can talk of boycotting the elections, but that won't stop ZEC from holding them.A few people will still vote and what will happen next.More suffering for the people yet Tsvangirai is enjoying himself. Its sixteen years now of extensive suffering since the launch of MDC.If it was not formed, there were not going to be farm invasions and industries would still have been opened and our people getting jobs .Whats the point of starting something and then turn around to the people and say "please come and help me". Thats bullshit. How many people managed to get farms except Zanu Pf supporters and yet the majority is suffering because of a certain moron. Ok you support him,but what are you going to do to ensure that there are goingto be free and fair elections in 2018?Do you think Mugabe does not know that once there are electoral reforms MDC will win? Whether you like it or not, Tsvangirai has brought all this suffering. In 2017 another strategy will be put forward in order to hoodwink the electorate. In 2013 he used the indiginisation strategy and cancelling the debts owed to municipalities.Mugabe is a big crook.Sometimes its better to let sleeping dogs lie.

chimuti - 23 March 2016

the reason why Zimbabwe is this situation is because an average Zimbabwean doesn't want the truth. below are some of the truths that people routinely circumvent: 1. rwavhi gukurahundi Mugabe committed genocide in Zimbabwe mainly the gukurahundi atrocities of the 1980s. this is the reason why he doesn't want to vacate the throne because he knows that he will be arrested. this has nothing to do with his marriage to grace is this come well after he had committed the crimes. 2. grace is a useless slut who left her marriage to get married to rwavhi because of pecuniary gains. 3. joice mujuru was the main driver of corruption in zanu with her late hubby rex. she owns a number of farms, mine and buildings around the country. she has no positive contribution to make to the country given her horrendous performance in govt for the past 35 years. she is a liar who wants us to believe that she always had differences with Mugabe yet she begged him to stay on the eve of her official cashiering. the fact that on top of her priorities is the chasing of solo's killers shows that she is in it for her own benefit and not for national benefit. tsvangirayi lost his wife in dodgy circumstances but never has he said that he wants to avenge that. also, joice consistently said that she has no ambition to become president now she is lying that people requested her to be president. the day we learnt to accept and tell the truth, our country and ourselves shall be liberated!!! VIVA SAVE 2018 VIVA!!!

josphat mugadzaweta - 23 March 2016

Zanu PF and Zim PF are birds of the same plumage/Makudo mamwe Do not get confused Zimbabweans once more!!!

Mukanya - 23 March 2016

@Chimuti If your answer is to let sleeping dogs lie, then one can only surmise you are for the status quo, i.e. a died_in_the_wool Zanoid. Such a defeatist attitude is no good in the fight for the rights of Zimbabweans that ZANU is trampling willy-nilly. Strategies evolve in a struggle as evidenced in the struggle against the Smith Regime when many forces were needed to bring it down. You have to remember that Bob is seriouly old and SADC will not always be on the side of the oppressor. A united opposition can benefit from this fluid situation. To accept a ZANU ascendency is to condemn oneself to a life of slavery in one's country.

Dunlop Munjanja - 23 March 2016

the problem is he is always caught napping all the time. yes we all rushed to him in 2000 thinking that he would be different from the status quo but heyi the guy is equally the same with mugabe. he is now holding the party mdc as his personal property maybe that why its called mdc t for tsvangirai. he was supposed to allow another in 2014 but in stead, he changed the constitution so he can be a handiende. i think makudo ndemamwe. better mai mujuru this time around.

ngomayedemo - 23 March 2016

I am one guy who enjoys what I call software politics like the comments send to daily news. Let me quickly comment on Chimuti's idea which most people have. People think there is someone always there to rescue them. Nothing for us without our meaningful involvement. Tsvangirai is a man or human being like all the other 14 million Zimbabweans. The fact that he managed to survive for 16 years as the main opposition leader should ring some bells in the minds of Zimbabweans. The fact that we are talking about his name means he is great and if we are genuine he should get into the books of democracy in Zimbabwe. That being said what we now have to do is to promote democratic processes rather blaming and saying Tsvangirai will never remove ZANU PF. What are we doing as individuals to correct the anomaly in our country. I would conclude my comment by saying there is this joke that says there are only two important men in Zimbabwe i.e. Mugabe who has tried to rule Zimbabwe and failed, and Tsvangirai who is trying to bring democracy to Zimbabwe but being denied the opportunity.

Matibini - 23 March 2016

My high school teacher used to say when you always say that answer is wrong be prepared to give your own answer you think and feel is correct. Chimuti you write winding and unclear statements. You say Tsvangirai is causing your suffering is he in power if so remove him. Please be objective when debating or commending on issues. We want the truth to be said give us your solution.

Mbwende - 23 March 2016

Matibini, you said it best. I would just like to say, to all those writing their real names in blog posts on these papers..don't. The walls are listening, and the ruling powers that be patrol these areas, and they will discipline those who slip up and put their personal details here.

Vinny - 24 March 2016

With writings like that of Chimuti clearly you can see that some people are cowards mbwende who easily give up AND WAIT for some one to rescue them . If you know zanu will employ dirty trix what are you doing to make sure that does not happen . We must rub off that destructive spirit from our minds and take the bull by it horns exactly like Morgan is doing fear is for our mothers and sisters . Come 2018 election zanu is gone they is no excuse this time dirty tricks must come over our dead as zimbabweans if we are to make this place good to live in . Down with alarmists .

Diibulaanyika - 24 March 2016

These guys were suspended,a suspension canonly be lifted. Re-admission? Wrong choice of a headline but good for business.

changara - 24 March 2016

I wonder where Dibulaanyika lives, because in Zimbabwe if you are an unknown person and try to confront Zanu Pf on your own you will simply disappear.People will say as much as they can and lable Mugabe the culprit but after a few months its all but forgotten. How many people have lost their lives since 2000 and all in the name of MDC.I am one of those who stayed away from work in those years when MDC called for mass stayaways but to what avail. Now someone is saying at a rally somewhere in Marondera that we are going to embark on mass stayaways, but my question is which people are going to stay away when only a handful are working.Do you really have to tell the enermy your strategy at a rally. My foolish indeed.Kubvira musi uya" waakadashushurwa" ne riot haana kuzombodaidzira futi stayaways.Zvakaperera ipapo saka gwara ndiani.Everyone can say Mugabe must go if given the platform to say so but that won't change Mugabe in anyways. We all want to demonstrate but who can coordinate. Its a question of leadership and the majority will follow.Ok I am a coward as some courageous ones say, but can you also show us how courageous you are.Tsvangirai is no match for Mugabe even at his old age when it comes to politics.

chimuti - 24 March 2016

chimuti your point is correct but inappropriate! its necessary to let certain dogs lie but it depends on which dogs are lying. this one dog needs a rude awakening like what morgan did. this dog is now forced to eat some of its puppies because its running out of tactics and once cannibalistic tendencies begin to set in, know that the end is nigh. there were several scandals such as willowgate that costd the economy; but somehow they got sweeped under the carpet and sandura died recently with files in the cabinet! But now I tell you chimuti, the truths is coming out little and little because the dig was awakened! see what happened at psmas, zbc, airzim, nssa, gmb, uz and currently netone. what is in common with these entities? they are govt or quasi gvt run entities. rhobhati is the ceo of gvt and the rot is being perpetrated by his staff. if the dog was left lying, yes things could have run on auto-pilot but the people will have suffered none-the-less. its beta to suffer bcoz of something you know(mismanagement) rather than suffering without knowledge of wo is stealing and who is not. workers are not being paid yet directos and mgt are creating siphone companies over and above getting mega-salaries. can any sane man let such a dog lie?! definitely not! even if they steal elections I will not let they lie; I will awaken them by demanding change in the ballot. even if they steal elections, tsvangirayi must not incite the pple to uprise because they will be butchered and the Hague will summon him. your point is correct but its not appropriate for the zim question.

SaManyika Chaiye - 24 March 2016

no person in their right mind would tell their enemy what they are doing. even zanu pf - doesn't tell mdc how they rig elections. but this morgan will always blunder. thats why all the brainy people left him. the good thing that he should have done is to pass the baton to the younger ones like chamisa and play the advisory role. otherwise mdc t will continue going round and round in circles with no achievements made. maitiro chingai mutungamiriri wenyu.

zvirozviyedzwa - 24 March 2016

come what may Mugabe will not rule after 2018

Harare - 24 March 2016

Chimuti you are coward finish and klaa how many people were killed during war and did people say lets stop the war bcoz whites are killing us . You are a sis baba who does not know that zanu kills people .That is why we are saying zanu must be taken head on to end these senseless killings . but with people with your mentality suffer continue . If you are coward go and hid your bed .

Diibulaanyika - 24 March 2016

we have a certain section of zim citizens who need a strong vaccine to awaken them. I can see some living corpses!

SaManyika Chaiye - 24 March 2016

Interesting divergent thoughts. I happen to have PARTICIPATED & witnessed all the elections in Zimbabwe since 1980. Zanu PF won a number of them but did not win ANY since the referendum. The torture and intimidation before and after the elections TAUGHT Zimbabweans to be docile. You die for nothing though that nothing is something, but you will have LOST your life and no one will be arrested for that murder. The VIVID RIGGING of elections has been so loud that even the BLIND could feel it and even those who participated in it are still disturbed by its massiveness. Unfortunately their hands are tied too. Its either their lives or compliancy. In Gutu many witnessed a famous lady losing the parliamentary elections then and she congratulated the victor and there was joy and ullulation. But when the results were announced on TV and radio IT WAS THE OPPOSITE. She was the winner. NHAYI IMI, UNOBVUNZA ANI UYE UMIRE SANI????? Thats Zanu PF for you. A sizeable number of sitting Zanu PF MPs do not deserve those posts. But rigging put them there. We do not talk about the HUMILIATING DEFEAT OF OUR DICTATOR. People let us not fool ourselves, as long as Mugabe is the one contesting the 2018 Presidential elections forget and smile, the security, the ABUSED war vets, the bought Zanu PF youths, etc, WILL NEVER ALLOW HIM TO LOOSE. THE TRUTH BE SAID OUR ILLEGITIMATE PRESIDENT HAS BEEN A SHAME MORESO SINCE AFTER THE 2000 REFERENDUM.

Icho - 24 March 2016

This chimuti guy is a dangerous individual who pretends to have suffered the MDC supporters pain whilst he is laughing on the other side of his face. Best to ignore him. A people dies in shame and cowardice or survives in courage and pride. Right now, there can be no proud Zimbo given the lack of fight against a monster that continues to destroy our country at will.

Am sure most of these comments are from men. Where are the women of this Zimbabwe. Instead of fighting for the rights of their husbands and children they are being used by men who want to further their own agendas. Is it not a woman who worries about what she will cook for the family, whether the husband is well enough to go to work to fend for them, is she not the one who worries when a child does not go to school, when the husband is retrenched who suffers most? At the end of the day we will agree its the woman who carries the burden of making sure the home is smooth running? Saka madzimai aripi when our home Zimbabwe is not running smooth? They are the biggest culprits. If they can dance for their oppressor why not for the well being of their children and husbands. Madzimai lets stand up for our home. We can do it. We are the custodians of homes. Lets not be used by men like brainless humans. They say we have a 6th sense. So demonstrate your power women. Zim women wake up.
