'Tsvangirai, Biti must heal rift'

HARARE - People’s Democratic Party (PDP)’s deputy secretary Tongai Matutu has implored his leader Tendai Biti and MDC president Morgan Tsvangirai to iron out their differences for the benefit of suffering Zimbabweans.

Speaking in an interview with the Daily News, Matutu said there was need for Biti and Tsvangirai to find common ground if they entertain any hopes of dislodging Zanu PF from power.

“We need leaders who are prepared to sacrifice their personal interests for the good of the country,” the ex-deputy Indigenisation minister said.

“If these guys fail to work together, they will cause more suffering to the people of Zimbabwe. We want leaders who can actually support whoever is selected to lead the opposition party’s coalition. I don’t have a problem with any leader who is going to be selected to lead the coalition since the issue is not about leaders, it’s about the people of Zimbabwe.”

Matutu accused opposition political parties of being selfish, saying they are driven more by the desire for personal aggrandisement at the expense of servant leadership.

“Time is not on our side. All opposition political parties must take this issue of working together seriously.

“There is no need to put personal egos on front whilst people are struggling.

“I have more friends in Tsvangirai’s party, we have been in the struggle with these people for a long time, so I cannot allow personal differences to disturb our struggle against Zanu PF’s misrule.”

The former Masvingo Central MP said as long as opposition political parties fail to work together, throwing spanners on the mooted coalition would perpetuate Mugabe’s rule and extend the general populace’s suffering.

“Any person anotoramba kushanda navamwe ari worse kukunda anoshanda achikonewa kana ari kuita kuti vanhu vatambure (Anyone who refuses to work with others is perpetuating the people’s suffering),” Matutu said.

Matutu’s sentiments come after  Biti told the Daily News last month that while he was in talks with Joice Mujuru, he would never countenance an alliance with Tsvangirai.

“We differed in principles and values and now the situation has worsened, the chasm has widened, it has been exacerbated,” Biti said.

“It is about a fundamental of principle. We are in contact with genuinely progressive forces that are democratic, including People First.”

I tend to agree now ladies and gentlemen. It's not the books you read that make you popular but how good you are at handling issues. Zimbabwe is said to be the country with the highest level of literacy l and even high numbers of people with PhDs in Southern Africa. But can one point at what the Professors and Doctors have done. A very good example even within in ZANU PF in Masvingo Province we have a grade seven Resident Minister while Doctors and Professors listens to her. I think we have to redefine what we call kudzidza and what it brings on the table.

A good leader sees things well ahead of ordinary persons . A few months ago Morgan asked all those who moved away from the big tent to come back but Biti said they was no way he would work with Morgan again . So Matutu go back to were you belong MDC T .Following Biti will lead you no way bcoz pple do not support him . Sikala did why cant you did .kkkkkkkk.

Reason Zimbabwe is in this situation is becoz of the Zimbabwean pple, attitude, values and humanity.better educated translate into egos, greed. Look at MDC splinter parties, Zanu PF fights all points to the nature of Zimbabweans .Zapu split to Zanu then factions> ZPF. MDC/MDC Ncube/PDP/Mangoma and others. No one was born a leader neither is there a school or university or degrees to be president. Zimbos are sell-outs and grassers. They grass each other to get deported frm UK. how evil and selfish is that How then do you think you will get freedom from Zanu? A leader is a servant of the people.ZPF is a product of disgruntled Zanu people who only started singing MDC T tune after kicked out. A snake will be snake till death. If they were not kicked out they would still be beating up MDCs and all opposing Zanu. Now than they feel cold out there they want to repent. Repentence means joining MDC not forming a splinter Zanu. This is like a visitor making his own bed when there some one offering him a bed. How would you trust that person to ask him to share a bed with you. ZPF should join MDC for them to be relevant. PDP is doomed its only purpose is to assist Biti to get a position in the new government nothing for the people in his party. jump ship now and join MDC. PDP, ZPF their follows are just exaggerated n based on claims. MDC has track record. right now only MDC T and MDC Zapu hve known followers. they can not share same table with claimers of certain followers.MDC has supporters and ZPF has got hooligans/fans at the moment. Coalition: Morgan President, Ncube and Mujuru vice presidents, Biti finance minister. This will be only acceptable and legitimate government that can remove Zanu. An outside has better view

Thank you very much for being focussed Mr Matutu. As you are Bitis party secretary general,i think you can convince that hard hearted intellectual that his intellect needs other people to work.obvoiusly I know he is so selfish Biti and high on himself,so better you Mr Matutu bail out and join Mr Tsvangirai because so far he is the ONLY the strongest Opposition leader, like it or not.

Let me say those who think Biti is a sellout are only myopic and are pesonality worshipers,if you fail to realise a dictator you are creating in Tsvangirai worse than Mugabe you will forever be under the rulership of dictators, why is it Tsvangirai who has to dictate the pace kuti come to the big tent,if he has to be part of a coalition with other progressive democrats,he has to come to the negotiating table as an equal contender not with a big man syndrome, for MDC to be vibrant it was team work which included Ncube and Biti wamuri kushora nhasi not only Tsvangirai ega,if anything he is only harvesting at harvest house the works done collectively with others who did not want to make him a god to be worship by misguided Zimbabweans who thing he is the face of the struggle ega, mwana anozvarwa nhasi anotofunga kuti Mugabe anga ari ega kuhondo,so would be someone 36 years from now anofunga Tsvangirai was alone in the struggle,we need to save democracy at some point by disengaging with leaders with dictatorial tendencies,Tsvangirai had his chance he did not get into power not because of his voalition tough luck others have to come in 16 years into the struggle simple like that,Biti was the closest contestant if they had to go to congress vese,Tsvangirai and his kitchen cabinet start labelling him pamhanza kuti ari kuda kubvisa president the same way Mugabe would say Mujuru ari kuda kundiuraya nekuti aida kucontester kucongress, you need to ask yourselves why mapresident emaparty Zanu PF neMDC they dont have vanhu vanocontester its because its treasonous in those places to suggest openly you want to contest napresident, haisi democracy iyoyo, lets solve the problem of Zim once and for all not to replace a dictator with someone with dictatorial tendencies. Zikomo

I fail 2 understand my fellow zimbos,we dont learn frm our past mistakes. 2day we are suffering under the detector bob a his zanu becoz people created a dictator out of him by suporting him wether wrong or right. Leaders should accept critism and they musnt supres those who want to rise above them aslong that will benefit the people n the country at large, let it be. In our leader Tsvangirai, m afraid , we are creating another dictator who will b worse than bob. There are many things which Tsvangirai has done which points to that. So people be warned!!
