Zapu open to ZPF coalition

BULAWAYO - Dumiso Dabengwa’s Zapu has said the entrance of Joice Mujuru’s Zimbabwe People First (ZPF) in the political fray would spur the setup of the highly-anticipated opposition coalition seeking to unseat President Robert Mugabe’s government.

Dabengwa is on record saying he will only consider serious engagement for a possible coalition as soon as ZPF is formally launched.

Zapu’s regional spokesperson Iphithule Maphosa told the Daily News yesterday that the coalition initiative between the two parties would now resume.

“Zapu is on record advising the ZPF leadership to launch their party for our coalition talks to continue as there was need for ZPF to be identifiable first,” Maphosa said.

“Zapu welcomes the newest kid on the opposition bloc in Zimbabwean politics. Since they have finally launched their party, we reaffirm our commitment to our coalition initiatives which were underway before their launch,” he said.

He said what made their coalition initiative distinctive was that the two parties shared a common background both in the liberation struggle and Zanu PF.

“The experiences we both underwent under both the colonial regime times and under Mugabe’s Zanu PF, coupled with commonality of our wishes for our liberated country and nation binds us together as we follow democratic processes to achieve our goal of a free, fair and democratic state nation,” Maphosa said.

He said Zapu was fully convinced that a grand coalition of all like-minded democratic forces will remove the Zanu PF government come 2018.

The Zapu spokesperson however, said all political parties who subscribed to the coalition notion should come to the table as equal partners.

“We do not subscribe to the big brother mentality that has often been shown by some leaders where they would want to come into this initiative as leaders of the coalition.”

Zapu you have no numbers and a coalition should be guided by what you bring on the table. Tsvangirai is the most popular in opposition circles not your tainted Debengwa who was in Mugabe's government for years, but could not even grumble because his belly was full. The leader of the coalition must be Morgan Tsvangirai, not any other people riding on his back and the person we must face in 2018 is Zanu Pf Mugabe. These are the two bulls we know in Zimbabwean politics, not these other kids you talk about. The big brother mentality is there and it is real and it has been established because Tsvangirai won previous elections which Dabengwa himself tried to prevent with their Mavambo Project. The other big brother mentality is Mugabe himself, who must head Zanu Pf, not any other kid because in Zanu Pf circles they know that financing another presidential candidate will be a disaster and the opposite in reference to Tsvangirai is also very true

the reason why Zimbabwe is this situation is because an average Zimbabwean doesn't want the truth. below are some of the truths that people routinely circumvent: 1. rwavhi gukurahundi Mugabe committed genocide in Zimbabwe mainly the gukurahundi atrocities of the 1980s. this is the reason why he doesn't want to vacate the throne because he knows that he will be arrested. this has nothing to do with his marriage to grace is this come well after he had committed the crimes. 2. grace is a useless slut who left her marriage to get married to rwavhi because of pecuniary gains. 3. joice mujuru was the main driver of corruption in zanu with her late hubby rex. she owns a number of farms, mine and buildings around the country. she has no positive contribution to make to the country given her horrendous performance in govt for the past 35 years. she is a liar who wants us to believe that she always had differences with Mugabe yet she begged him to stay on the eve of her official cashiering. the fact that on top of her priorities is the chasing of solo's killers shows that she is in it for her own benefit and not for national benefit. tsvangirayi lost his wife in dodgy circumstances but never has he said that he wants to avenge that. also, joice consistently said that she has no ambition to become president now she is lying that people requested her to be president. the day we learnt to accept and tell the truth, our country and ourselves shall be liberated!!!

We are begging all of the opposition to unite under a coalition and have that final push. Mugabe's last term of office could be 2018 if he wins those elections. Let us deny him this chance and set a record that Zimbabweans did in the end vote out the dictator. We have seen how bad Zanu PF rule is. A coalition is our only true chance of salvation. We can't go 2 decades of poverty!
