HARARE - Highlanders and Dynamos are set to continue their long-standing battle for supremacy when they clash in the first leg of the Bob@92 Cup this Sunday at Barbourfields Stadium.
The return leg is scheduled for the National Sports Stadium in Harare on March 19.
The last time the country’s two giants met in the competition, Dynamos emerged 2-0 victorious in the 2014 final.
Highlanders vice chairman Modern Ngwenya insisted the Bulawayo giants would end Dynamos’ dominance this time around.
“We are taking this cup seriously as you are all aware that we have since engaged a coach from abroad; we don’t have a coach from Africa but abroad to show how serious we are,” he said in reference to their new Dutch coach Elroy Akbay.
Tournament spokesperson Charles Mabika paid tribute to the two teams for agreeing to take part in the competition.
“Our appreciation goes to the two giants for agreeing to be a part of this tournament,” he said.
“What I can tell you is that sponsorship is being sort out at this point in time and we cannot disclose how much the two finalists are going to take as prize money.
“We are moving head and tail to ensure that the two clubs get something at the end of it all.”
Gate charges for the rest of the ground will be $2 for both legs, $5 for the West stand and $10 VVIP.
