Cosafa appointment for Chiyangwa

HARARE - Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) president Philip Chiyangwa has been appointed to the Cosafa Marketing Committee.

Zifa board member for finance Philimon Machana was also appointed to the regional football body’s Finance Committee.

In a March 7 letter to Zifa CEO Jonathan Mashingaidze, Cosafa general secretary Sue Destombes confirmed the appointments of the two Zimbabwe officials.

“The reason for  the short-term appointment is that the Cosafa Executive Committee Elections will take place in South Africa in December 2016,” Destombes wrote.

The letter was also copied to Cosafa Finance Committee chairperson Mubarak Mahomed and Marketing Committee chairperson Walter Nyamilandu-Manda.

“At the first meeting of the newly-elected Executive Committee in 2017, the appointments to the Standing Committees for the period 2017 to 2019 will be discussed as an agenda  item.

“On behalf of the president of Cosafa...Suketu Patel, we welcome...Chiyangwa and Machana to their respective Committees.”
