Zim golfers miss cut

HARARE - Zimbabwean golfers Ryan Cairns, Mark Williams, Scott Vincent and Mohammed Mandhu all missed the cut at the Sunshine Tour’s Dimension Data Pro-Am in George, South Africa at the weekend.

Cairns had started the tournament in fine form after carding a five-under 67 in the opening round on Thursday.

He however, followed up with disappointing second and third rounds of 70 and 79 which left him on one-under 216 for the tournament.

The cut for playing in yesterday’s final round was set at two-under.

Williams on the other hand had started the R5 million rich tournament with an even par 73 in the first round.

Further rounds of 72 and 71 meant that Williams also ended his participation with a score of one-under 216 to miss the cut.

Vincent, who is playing in his first season as a pro on the Sunshine Tour circuit, also missed the cut when he carded rounds of 73, 79, 73 for a gross total of five-over 222.

Mandhu shot rounds of 78, 70, 84 and also missed the cut with a total of 15-over 232.

Another Zimbabwean golfer Greg Bentley was part of the field which teed-off on Thursday but withdrew from the tournament after carding a 13-over 86 in the opening round.
