Kiki Divaris dies

HARARE - Veteran beauty pageant organiser Kiki Divaris has died, she was 91.

At the time of her death Divaris, was the patron of Miss Zimbabwe Trust, after she gave the reigns of running Zimbabwe’s biggest pageant to Marry Chiwenga a former model married to the army general Constantine

In a statement, the Miss Zimbabwe Trust, said Divaris passed away at around 2am.

Chiwenga said the death of  Divaris was going to change the dynamics of Miss Zimbabwe Trust as well as the Miss World Zimbabwe.

“This is my sole tribute to the Queen Maker, a vibrant and vivacious woman Kiki Divaris. To my person, she was a great mentor, Kiki did not  have a bone in her body that had jealousy, she reminded me of the epitome that was Princess Diana and the greatness to give love to make Zimbabwe a better place to live in.

“The thought of losing her as a grandmother, a mother, mentor and above all conquerer makes my heart ache. I loved her more than she thought possible, she loved me unconditionally.
“Fly high my angel, you are to me, the most beautiful queen Zimbabwe ever produced. I will grant your last request to me,” Chiwenga said.

The former Miss Zimbabwe said in the emotional tribute that next year’s beauty pageant will be held in honour of Divaris.

“Kiki, I will always love you  and I will never forget you. Miss World Zimbabwe 2016 will be all about you, under the stars in memory of you. Fly high above the sky and touch the stars beyond, you were bold and beautiful and shall remain as such. Rest in Peace my Love.” she said.

Divaris was a friend to many including President Robert Mugabe, whom  she shared a birth year with.

She took over running of the Miss Zimbabwe pageant in 2011 from Zimbabwe Tourism Authority and eventually handing over the reins to Chiwenga.
