Ex-Chimbetu manager launches album tonight

HARARE - Former Tryson Chimbetu’s band manager and vocalist Nyasha Mugari will launch his six-track debut album titled Discovered at the City Sports Bar in the capital tonight.

Mugari, who, until recently managed Tryson Chimbetu’s backing group, has promised to revive the original dendera music popularised by the late Simon and Naison Chimbetu.

“I am happy that at long last I have managed to produce an album. I am very confident that this is the beginning of a long successful career in music that I have always longed for.

“Considering the effort and time I invested in this project, I am convinced that Discovered will go a long way in reviving the original dendera music created by the late Simon and Naison Chimbetu,” said Mugari.

Before becoming Tryson’s manager, Mugari did backing vocals for Suluman and Tryson Chimbetu. He is convinced that this experience will make him a better musician.

“I benefited immensely from the two artistes. They are the ones who made me what I have become today and as a result I salute them,” he said

At tonight’s launch, Mugari will be backed by his group called The Uncrackables. The event is expected to be graced by other musicians who include Kireni Zulu, Tryson Chimbetu, Somandla Ndebele, Tendai Dembo, Douglas Chimbetu, Romeo Gasa and Francis “Franco Slomo”.
