Fitness concerns for Ndiraya's Dynamos

HARARE - Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya has suggested his side are being affected by fatigue in their quest to defend their league title.

DeMbare travel to Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane this weekend to take on Chapungu in the Chibuku Super Cup semi-final.

The match comes hot on the heels of the Harare giants’ recent trip to Bulawayo where they played Chicken Inn in the Castle Lager Premiership last weekend.

Ndiraya feels another trip to Zvishavane this weekend will take its toll on his exhausted charges towards this crucial closing stage of the season.

“I think largely the worry is about us travelling twice in two weeks. We have been to Bulawayo which is close to 400km and we are travelling to Mandava which is almost 400km again,” Ndiraya said after Dynamos’ morning training session yesterday.

“Fatigue might take its toll but Mandava the venue itself is not new to us. We have been there playing FC Platinum on a number of occasions.

“We have also played there in cup games and if I remember very well we beat How Mine in the One Wallet the last time.

“But we are playing a different team which is Chapungu and we are expecting a very physical game but we are quite prepared for that. The venue itself is okay with a very good turf and we expect to play our normal game.”

Ndiraya, however, remains confident his charges will be ready for the challenge to be presented by Chapungu.

“We are having our last training session tomorrow (today) and hopefully we will be well prepared,” he said.

“I think mentally we are quite prepared. I think the moment we qualified for the semi-final, the boys knew what they were going to face.

“I think they (Chapungu) have done well the whole season it’s not just the cup game against Chicken Inn. Their season has been quite good and we are treating them as such, they are not a small team.

“We are preparing our boys mentally to face the challenge. We are not taking them cheaply, they are a good team that can upset us.

“We want to get into the final so all our effort is on Chapungu at the moment. We are looking forward to the match and see what happens. We want to be in the final.”
