Zifa fires Mugadza

HARARE - The Zimbabwe Football Association yesterday fired Mighty Warriors coach Rosemary Mugadza together with her technical team without clear explanation on the decision.

Mugadza, who has been with the Mighty Warriors for almost a decade, was replaced by Shadreck Mlauzi and will be deputised by former Mighty Warriors midfielder Sithethelelwe Sibanda while Johanne Chikaola was retained as the second assistant.

Charity Munemo was retained as the team manager in the new-look technical team with Barry Daka roped in the technical advisor. Peter Masibero is the new goalkeepers’ coach while former goalkeeper Onai Chingawo will be the kit manager.

In a statement released by the association yesterday, Zifa said their decision was part of the association’s administration structural review programme.

“Head coach Rosemary Mugadza, assistant coach Mebelo Njekwa, goalkeepers coach Ndega Matsika and kit manager Fungai Nyamutukwa are no longer part of the senior women technical set up.

“The association is grateful for the services they rendered to the nation. The new team will manage the Olympic qualifiers and other assignments and are taking over with immediate effect,” reads the statement on the association’s official website www.zifa.org.zw.

The new technical team’s immediate task would be to lead the Mighty Warriors against Cameroon in an Olympic qualifier and has been mandated to release the squad on Monday.
