ZPC fail to win again

KARIBA - ZPC Kariba coach Sunday Chidzambwa was left frustrated after his side failed again to win a Castle Lager Premiership match when they were held by How Mine yesterday.

Chidzambwa, who was appointed in June, has now failed to lead the Zimbabwe Power Company to a win in six league matches.

The draw will likely pile more pressure on Chidzambwa, who has left the ZPC executive divided over what to do with the former Warriors coach.

Some of the executive members want the gaffer sacked while others think the well-travelled Chidzambwa needs more time to turn around the club’s fortunes.

Yesterday, ZPC surged ahead in the 13th minute through veteran striker Limited Chikafa after the visitors’ defenders failed to clear a cross from Raphael Manuvire.

Kauya Katuruturu, however, failed to hold onto the lead as they allowed the gold miners to regain control of the match in the second half.

How Mine equalised in the 69th minute when ZPC’s Ghanaian defender Sylvester Appiah scored an own goal when he tried to cut out Kuda Musharu’s cross.

New ZPC forward Leonard Fiyado had a golden chance to restore the home side’s lead but his shot hit the upright shortly after coming on for Manuvire.

After the match Chidzambwa said: “There is nothing a coach can do when the strikers are failing to utilise golden opportunities that are coming their way.”

How Mine coach Luke Masomere was happy with a point away from home after the 5-1 drubbing by Highlanders last Sunday.
