Samson Muripo leaves for Iran

HARARE - Zimbabwe top karateka Sensei Samson Muripo left for Iran yesterday where he is scheduled to participate in an international seminar as well as the Daigo Ohishi Cup.

Muripo left the country yesterday morning via South Africa where he was scheduled to board Qatar Airways in the afternoon at the OR Tambo International Airport, arriving at the Doha International Airport this morning.

The Sokyokushin International Seminar will see Muripo taking part in discussions centred on Kata, Kihon, Kumite and refereeing classes.

“These are refresher courses that as administrators we ought to be equipped with and as usual the lessons gained would benefit the nation as a whole,” Muripo told the Daily News yesterday.

“The seminar kicks off tomorrow while the tournament starts on the same day with the juniors and seniors contests.”

The U19 years’ will kick-start the tournament tomorrow before the seniors’ event completes proceedings for the day.

Friday is reserved for the karatekas above the age of 19 years and Saturday will be an off day reserved for sightseeing and a tour of the Kermanshah City.
