Harare City wary of Dongo

HARARE - Harare City assistant coach Witness Munkuli insists they are not under-estimating Dongo Sawmills when the two teams clash in a Castle Lager Premiership tie at Rufaro Stadium this afternoon.

The Sunshine Boys are moving with a spring in their step having beaten CAPS United 1-0 in their last league match before dispatching Buffaloes 4-1 in the Chibuku Super Cup last weekend.

Dongo are currently anchoring the 16-team table with a paltry 12 points and speaking ahead of today’s tie, Munkuli said they are focused on getting maximum points.

“Dongo are a good side and the fact that we beat them in June does not play any part in this match. It is a new game and we are good for them as if we never played them,” he said.

“Their position on the log doesn’t mean they will just roll for us. As a team we respect our opponents and Dongo are no exception. Although we will miss some key players through injury and suspension, we are ready for them.

“We are not getting complacent after beating Buffaloes last week in a cup game because this is a different ball game altogether.”

City will miss the services of midfielder Tendai Samanja and forward Martin Vengesai through suspension after accumulating three yellow cards, while James Jam sits out his last of the two match ban for a red card against Flame Lily in July.

Skipper David Kutyauripo, who missed the team’s win against Buffaloes is still sidelined with an ankle injury while midfielder Hebron Mukukutu is also still struggling with a groin injury.

City triumphed 0-3 in the reverse fixture with Vengesayi, Crispen Dickson and William Manondo getting the goals.

Nathan Ziwini also echoed Munkuli’s sentiments that they were not treating Dongo lightly.

“Dongo is not different from any other club in the league because it is just three points at stake not seven. We will play them the way we played Dynamos and nothing special for them too,” he said.
