Jah Prayzah, Killer T date Gweru

HARARE - Jah Prayzah and Killer T, who are arguably the hottest artistes on the local music scene, will have a joint concert at the Midlands Hotel tomorrow night.

Jah Prayzah has become Zimbabwe’s biggest crowd-puller thanks to his latest album Jerusarema while Killer T is dominating the Zimdancehall scene with his red-hot latest offering titled Ngoma Ndaimba.

“We are happy to host two celebrated artistes in form of Jah Prayzah and Killer T tomorrow night. Since the two released their albums, we had not got the chance to book them and this comes as a golden opportunity for Gweru fans,” said Midlands Hotel entertainment manager Sithembinkosi Matiza.

She added that the gig will also serve as a welcome party for students at Midlands State University (MSU) who have just begun another semester.

Jah Prayzah told the Daily News that he was looking forward to sharing the stage with Killer T.

“It is a blessing to share the stage with a musician of Killer T’s calibre considering that he is currently among the hottest artistes in the country. Tese tiri vanasazita — men-of-the-moment — saka titori bhoo and geared,” said the Jerusarema singer.

Jah Prayzah’s fortunes have improved dramatically ever since he launched Jerusarema on May 22 at the Harare International Conference Centre.

He is pulling the biggest crowds with unverified reports claiming that his raking up to $60 000 a month.

Meanwhile, Jah Prayzah is in the process of putting together a DVD compilation for Jerusarema.

“When it comes to videos, I really want them to be of good quality to match international standards,” he told the Daily News.

Songs on Jah Prayzah’s latest album that have captured the imagination of Zimbabweans include Chinamira, Eriza, Jerusarema and Daira among others.

Jah Prayzah shot to fame thanks to his second album Sungano Yerudo in 2009 largely on the strength  of hits that included Lisa, Ruva Rerudo and Ndakusuwa

The Uzumba-born artiste, nicknamed  “Longman” by his legion of fans owing to his height, has six albums under his belt namely Rudo Nerunyararo, Sungano Yerudo, Ngwarira Kuparara, Tsviriyo, Kumbumura Mhute and the latest Jerusarema.
