Chibuku Super Cup returns

HARARE - The draw for the second edition of the Chibuku Super Cup, an all premiership affair, will be conducted this afternoon at the Zebra bar in Mbare.

This will be the first knockout competition in the league this year.

The Chibuku Super Cup first round matches are scheduled for the weekend of August 8-9 with the quarter-finals set for August 19-20.

The Premier soccer league yesterday said participating clubs will be fixtured as per the 2015 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Match day 15 log standings.

The top eight clubs shall be seeded and automatically positioned according to their standings while the bottom eight teams will be fixtured against the seeded teams by public drawing of lots.

FC Platinum are the defending champions of the Chibuku Super Cup. The platinum miners beat Harare City 3-1 on penalties and went on to represent the country in the Caf Confederations Cup.

In addition for a ticket to represent the country at the Confederation Cup, FC Platinum pocketed $75 000 winners’ cheque while City went home $50 000 richer.

The tournament, which made a return to the domestic football last year, is sponsored by Delta Beverages.

The final of the Chibuku Super Cup is expected to be played on October 31.
