HARARE - Chidyamakono High school is looking to continue with their dominance in girls’ football at the 2015 Copa Coca-Cola national tournament at Montrose Girls High in Bulawayo this weekend.
The Masvingo-based school won the title in the previous two years.
Last year, they retained the title they had won in 2013 after edging St Francis 1-0 in a tightly-contested match at Gwanzura Stadium.
En route to the final, the rural school topped Group C after accounting for Gato 3-0 before they went on to discard Chilisa.
This year’s team has only three players who featured in last year’s finals — Nyaradzo Chifamba, Estere Shawabaya and Thelma Takavinga.
“We are geared for the tournament and as usual we want to defend our title,” Chidyamakono coach Yeukai Chiruva told the Daily News yesterday.
“I think this year we still have a strong team and our preparations are going on well, everyone in the team is ready.
Chidyamakono headmaster Morrison Musorowegomo is also confident that his team will continue with their dominance.
“I think like in the past two years we have a good team which will make us proud and I know they will come out with a positive result,” he said.
