Hartley Academy in big win

HARARE - Zifa Eastern Region Division One League side Hartley Academy recorded the weekend’s biggest win in the four second tier leagues after walloping Gaza Gunners 11-1 at Motor Action Sports Club on Sunday.

Clemence Zimondi scored a hat-trick while Luanda Tambwe, Brendon Mashamaidze, Kuda Kumwala and Nigel Ndlovu weighed in with a brace each.

Despite their convincing result, the Harare-based team remain in second place on the log standings with 27 points and trail log leaders Masvingo United on goal difference.

Masvingo United were able to remain in first place courtesy of a 2-1 win over Tenax away at Sakubva Stadium.

Zifa Southern Region Division One League pacesetters Bulawayo City have opened a two-point gap at the summit of the log after beating Old Nic Mine 2-0 over the weekend.

Second-placed Bulawayo Chiefs fell further behind after playing out a one-all draw with Ntabazintuna.

After 15 matches, City now have 33 points while Bulawayo Chiefs have 31.

Army side Tongogara maintained their stranglehold on pole position in the Zifa Central Region Division One League after beating Gweru United 2-1.

Tongogara top the log standings with 30 points, three ahead of second-placed Boarder Strikers and third-placed ZPC Munyati.

The army side has only lost once in the 13 matches they have played so far and look good for a Premiership return.

Former Premiership side Shabanie Mine bounced back to winning ways after walloping Vumbachikwe 4-0.

The Zvishavane-based asbestos miners, who are bidding for a quick return to the top flight, have had an indifferent season so far and are trailing the log leaders by seven points.
