Bullish Hwange warn DeMbare

HARARE - Hwange coach Nation Dube says he is expecting nothing short of victory in today’s league match against Castle Lager Premiership defending champions Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium.

The two teams clash once again — a week after they were inseparable, playing to a one-all draw at Colliery Stadium.

In recent seasons, the Harare giants have found the going tough against Hwange; DeMbare last beat the coal miners two years ago with a 2-0 win at Rufaro Stadium.

Dube is hoping his team continues with its commendable performances against the Glamour Boys, who are bidding for a fifth consecutive title.

“We play every match with an aim of collecting maximum points and look, like any other game, our target is to collect maximum points against Dynamos,” Dube told the Daily News on Sunday.

“We are expecting a competitive match but we are happy with our preparations for the game.

“My players know what is expected from them and we are not under any pressure; we only need to approach this game with a positive mind.

“We are in the same league with Dynamos, so, this game is like any other games we have played before.”

Hwange will miss the trio of Nkosana Siwela, Phakamani Dube and Newman Sianchali who were injured in a road accident early this week.

“We have enough replacements and we have registered many players. I think this will give perfect opportunity to some players who were not having enough game time,” said Dube.

“I don’t think the injuries will affect our type of play, I only want to say the battle is still on, everyone is ready for the game.”

Going into this weekend’s match Hwange are on position 12 on the log with 15 points from 15 games.

Dube’s charges had a very difficult season so far as they only managed two wins, nine draws and four defeats.

On the other hand, Dynamos will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways in order to keep their title hopes alive.

David Mandigora’s men are currently in third position on the log standing with 27 points with seven wins, six draws and two defeats.

The Harare giants are also still closely monitoring some of their players who have fitness concerns.

Simba Nhivi, Masimba Mambare and Artwell Mukandi are some of the senior players who are out of today’s match due to injuries.

DeMbare will also miss Stephen Alimenda who was handed a three-match ban by the PSL disciplinary committee after found guilty of assaulting Tsholotsho medic Sibusisiwe Mthunzi.

Today fixtures: Whawha v Dongo Sawmill (Ascot Stadium); Dynamos v Hwange (Rufaro Stadium); Triangle United v Highlanders (Gibbo Stadium); How Mine v Buffaloes (Luveve Stadium)
