End game for Mafu, Yogi

HARARE - Highlanders coach Bongani Mafu and his Dynamos counterpart David Mandigora are both dead men walking.

One of them is likely to be jobless by the end of the two teams’ clash this afternoon at Rufaro Stadium in a Castle Lager Premiership clash.

Dynamos have failed to collect maximum points in their last three matches after playing out to a goalless draw against league debutants Tsholotsho at home before registering one-all draws against Triangle and ZPC Kariba respectively.

Despite their lack of consistency this season, the Glamour Boys find themselves just six points behind log leaders Chicken Inn before this weekend’s matches.

However, this has not appeased the hugely demanding DeMbare fans, who have been calling for Mandigora’s sacking.

Those calls have increased considerably and another poor performance this afternoon against a side they have dominated since 2007 will b the final nail in the coffin.

Mandigora had to leave the National Sports Stadium under the guard of the club’s security details following the draw with ZPC as the fans bayed for his blood.

Dynamos have not lost a match to Bosso since 2006 in a league match and in the last four years they have been crowned champions.

“Our players know what to expect each time we face Highlanders. They are not easy games and it is in matches like these where heroes are born,” Dynamos assistant coach Tonderai Ndiraya said earlier this week.

“I hope players will quickly put pressure behind them and focus on the task at hand.”

Highlanders are coming into this match with Mafu knowing the DeMbare result could determine his future at the Bulawayo giants.

Bosso had failed to collect maximum points in their previous two matches after playing to a two-all draw against FC Platinum before registering a one-all draw against How Mine in the Bulawayo derby.

“I don’t want to comment I will comment after the match,” Mafu said ahead of this match.

After 13 rounds of action in the PSL, Highlanders are sitting on eighth place on the log standing with 19 points, 10 behind log leaders Chicken Inn before this weekend’s matches.

Bosso are closer to the relegation zone that they are to log leaders Chicken Inn and this has left their fans bitter with Mafu.
