Zhuwao makes instant impression

HARARE - Cepahs Zhuwao is living up to his “Big Bully” nickname for BudleighSalterton Cricket Club following his explosive performances for Devon Cricket league A Division side.

The Devon Cricket League is a top level of competition for recreational club cricket in Devon, England.

The first XI league consists of a Premier division of 10 teams, and six feeder divisions lettered A-F.

The Zimbabwean all-rounder has wasted little time in justifying his big hitting a reputation.

Zhuwao was instrumental last week when Budleigh defeated Hatherleigh by 86 runs last week.

The Zimbabwe international put up a 63 run sixth wicket partnership with Sam Richardson that earned him rave reviews from captain Lloyd White.

The 30-year-old hit a 43-ball half century, finally out for 56, a knock that included six fours and four sixes.

The left-hander has played one-day and T20 internationals for Zimbabwe and First Class for Northerns and currently Mashonaland Eagles.

Zhuwao’s display won him praise from his captain Lloyd White.

“It was a fantastic performance from Robbie (Newman) and Cephas (Zhuwao). The pair certainly delivered the goods. Between them they proved the difference between the two sides. Cephas has certainly made an explosive start and, when Robbie plays it gives us the balance we so desperately need. Having 60 overs of top bowling to pick from is a captain’s delight. Joel (Murphy) was absolutely superb with the new ball — his new role at Budleigh!

“We are starting to see some really positive cricket played. However, each of us have areas to improve upon and we will continue to work hard in the coming weeks to ensure we only get better,” said White.
