Zanu PF triggers more by-elections

HARARE - Expelled Zanu PF stalwarts Ray Kaukonde, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti and David Butau were yesterday formally ejected from Parliament — setting the stage for more costly by-elections at a time that the government is saddled with massive debts and failing to meet its obligations.

Jacob Mudenda, the Speaker of Parliament, announced that he had received a formal letter from the post-congress Zanu PF announcing that the trio had been expelled and were thus being recalled from their respective seats.

Bhasikiti, the former MP for Mwenezi East confirmed to the Daily News last night that he was no longer a legislator.

“That was announced in my presence. They also admitted that they were quite aware of the court challenge but they disregarded it,” Bhasikiti, who has since taken President Robert Mugabe and Zanu PF to court, said.

Kaukonde, the former MP for Marondera and Butau, the ex-legislator for Mbire, along with Bhasikiti, were controversially expelled from Zanu PF last month.

The three were expelled along with former ministers Dzikamai Mavhaire and Olivia Muchena, who are both senators, as well as prominent party members Claudius Makova and Kudakwashe Gopo — who are all suspected of being allies of ousted former Vice President Joice Mujuru, who herself was purged from the party on untested allegations of plotting to oust and kill Mugabe.

There is hardly money for anything else and the little money coming in is gobbled up by Mugabe in his unending travels. Where is the money for these by-elections coming from? Why expel in dribs & drabs instead of one fell swoop and then concentrate on the weightier issues like economy, health delivery and education etc?

2018 will be a bloody year. It will be like 1980. Zvipfukuto zvose must be wiped out. We are ready to fund any democratic movement that will put people first in their agenda. We have the money and capacity to source funds to match ZANU pf . It will be checkmate to Mugabe in 2018 if he is still alive. We have detailed information about who is who in that party and come true independence in 2018 those who committed crimes against our people will face the music. CIO will be dismantled and reorganised to a more professional organisation . !!!

Finally it dawns on the expelled guys that Zanu or Mugabe is not democratic or fair. And they want votes, from who? They must go back into Zanu and get Zanu votes. We are tired of complaining, and the only time that these people listen to us is when they are desperately out of a job. They know nothing about governance

people are slowly noticing that there is no difference between zanu and mdc t. both parties behave the same. those of a diverse mindset are purged out. the constitutions are manipulated to reflect the will of the leadership. in both parties there is a culture of overstaying beyond the stipulated tenure of office. therefore, slowly, people are starting to see the 'people first' as an alternative. i don't blame anyone who sees this as another avenue to a reasonable life. zanu pf has failed. mdc t has failed. we are now left to try people first. come 2018, it will be people first against zanu pf.
