Mudiwa teams up with Passion Java

HARARE - Gospel musician Mudiwa Hood and Kingdom Embassy leader Passion Java are set to star in a film to be released on June 27, entitled Deception.

Robert Nyagwaya, Eagle Eye film productions public relations officer told the Daily News that the film which will premiere at Ster Kinekor Eastgate is premised on the life of a pastor.

Nyagwaya said the film revolves around how the pastor was moved from his original base to the United States of America where he encounters various obstacles.

“The film challenges the pastor’s faith in his religion, hence his downfall and possible hindrance in pursuing his move to the US,” Nyagwaya said.

He said among some of the actors to star in the film are 2015 Miss Zimbabwe contestant Rairo Gunguwo, veteran actor Charles Mzemba and Rumbidzayi Musarurwa.

Java said he was approached to be a part of the cast because of his gospel and appeal to the youths.

He said the arts are a major part of spreading the word as they reach a wider audience, with most of the viewers being from areas that are usually out of reach.

“As a man of God, I was called to evangelise and because the word has no boundaries, I can use which ever platform to spread the word of God and making this film is a good vessel,” Java said.

Nyagwaya said the production which took one year to complete was sponsored by local companies and a US-based firm Cresco Care.

He said the film will go on a countrywide tour which will start in Gweru for promotion purposes. It will not be released on compact discs (CDs).

“For now we are not going to sell the film’s CD video because we want to avoid issues of piracy that have been hindering the growth of the local film industry. If anyone wants to watch it he/she would have to go to the movie theatres.”
