Harare City thump Dongo

RUSAPE - Dongo Sawmills’ home fans will have to wait another day to see their team win a Castle Lager Premiership contest in their maiden season after they were thumped 3-0 by Harare City at Vengere Stadium yesterday.

Their sole win this since the beginning over the season came away to Flame Lily last week.

City showed their determination to ease their own woes over the league minnows in the sixth minute when Crispen Dickson scored from a free kick that beat Tinashe Mberi.

The Sunshine Boys were to increase their tally three minutes later after Martin Vengesai headed home a James Jam well weighted cross.

Vengesai was however to miss six minutes from the break when he headed wide with Mberi badly exposed.

Dongo substituted Blessing Dzumbunu and Khumbulani Njovo for Dion Coutinho and Deverson Maneya.

Dongo’s second half substitute Deverson Maneya could have pulled one back but his shot went inches wide in the 70th minute.

City went further ahead in the 75th minute when William Manondo scored a pile driver from outside the box after he was teed up Tinotenda Kadewere.

Harare City assistant coach Mkhuphali Masuku was elated by his side’s first away win

“I’m happy that we finally won away from home, since the start of the season we had not won away from home. But today we did it in a stylish way and we hope we are going to maintain our good form,” Masuku said.

Shardeck Mugurasave said: “It was the same old story losing once again at home but we are hoping that everything is going to improve.”
