Army to force vendors to move

HARARE - Local Government minister Ignatius Chombo yesterday warned vendors that the services of the army and police will be enlisted if they refuse to move to designated sites.

Addressing a press briefing in Harare yesterday, Chombo said the Joint Operations Committee (JOC) – a think-tank of top security commanders - will enforce the law. Brigadier general Anselmo Sanyatwa, a member of JOC, warned the vendors to immediately decamp to designated sites.

“Address your people about the designated sites which are contained in the document that HCC (Harare City Council) presented here,” Sanyatwa said. “Make sure that your people go to those sites. If not, we do not care about the vendors that are on the streets in town, we will deal with the leaders.”

Chombo said vendors will be given until June 8 to move to the 26 designated sites.

Anselemo is barking like a terrier at unarmed vendors!! What a joke. He should go to Iraq if his soldiers have nothing to do. So this operation will be called what...OPERATION REMOVE VENDORS OR MURAMBATSVINA PART 2. I can imagine soldiers in all streets of all towns and cities in Zimbabwe 24/7 for how long??

Now you know who is running Zimbabwe. Even before the 2008 elections the signs were clearly on the wall saying Zimbabwe is a militarized state. Events following the 2008 confirmed what I had long suspected but to anyone still in doubt please take stock of what is happening on the ground and see if you still believe that Zimbabwe is not a military state. Mugabe is just an efiggy to hide the people who are calling the shots. Mugabe was long convinced by the military that he cannot go away because he will find himself at the Hague or is most likely to happen if he should be let free the generals asked him why he should leave them exposed when they did all the dirty work following his orders. Zimbabwe my country is cursed!
