MDC condemns Mphoko's remarks on Gukurahundi

EDITOR — The MDC has been totally taken aback by the crude and bizarre remarks that were made by Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko in Masvingo last Thursday regarding the Gukurahundi genocide.

What we find totally appalling is the fact that this is the second time in as many months that Mphoko has uttered irresponsible, insensitive and reckless remarks about the very unfortunate and tragic Gukurahundi genocide that took place in the early up to the mid 1980s, killing no less than 20 000 innocent villagers in the Midlands and the Matabeleland provinces.

What we find even more shocking and unbelievable is the fact that Mphoko himself is supposed to hail from Matabeleland.

The cold, hard fact is that Gukurahundi was a genocide and as such, it was a crime against humanity.

In his heart of hearts, Mphoko knows that Gukurahundi was a brutal and callous genocidal crime against the people of the Midlands and the Matabeleland provinces.

This genocide was perpetrated with chilling brutality by the North Korean — trained Fifth Brigade.

Both the unreleased Chihambakwe Commission of Inquiry Report and the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace Report have documented,in heartrending detail, the horrific, cruel and inhuman criminal offences that were committed by the Fifth Brigade in the three western provinces of Zimbabwe.

It is an unmitigated insult to the victims and the survivors of the Gukurahundi genocide for Mphoko to falsely and heartlessly claim that Gukurahundi was a conspiracy by the West.

The MDC understands that Mphoko is singing for his supper since he is just a political nonentity who was literally plucked from nowhere; landing the highly esteemed position of Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

Be that as it may, Mphoko should not and indeed, must not be allowed to continue to add salt to injury by continually trivialising the traumatic and horrific Gukurahundi genocide whose scars are still to be healed to this very date.

Phelekezela Mphoko has clearly proved that he is not fit to be the Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe. This man is not fit for purpose.

He should immediately step down as the Vice President of Zimbabwe.’’

Infact Mphoko is a real shame to the people of Matebeleland as he is putting himself and the entire of the ndebele people as second citizens of the country through his stupid behaviour. If Mugabe accepted the massacre as a moment of madness in his own words why should this idiot try and talk of the western conspiracy? Stupid sell-out who is ready to sell on his people for a position in that broke and clueless ZANU PF ganster of idiots .

The truth is a bitter pill to swallow. The guy is ndebele who was hand picked to the vice presidency. To him what matters most is him and his family. As long as they are okay what more. The gugurahundi saga will never go away unless addressed properly and those who sanctioned it proper to book. Moving forward is also to be aware where you come from. Mpoko is merely a mouthpiece of Zanu PF. He forgets that all things come to an end. It might seem it won't end but the end is nigh.

I am not sure whether Mpoko is aware that what ever he says on public is recorded. It is painful to give such remarks in public. It is better he says these remarks in his bed room with his wife. Maronda achirikurwadza vanhu who were affected and he thinks people should simply forget. Remember the affected families have been impoverished and iye ari kudya achiguta.Just imagine his wife was robbed of thousands of dollars in South Africa. Kuguta uku. Chii chaaitsvaga kure uku chisirimuno munyika. This a clear sign that varigugutisa vamwe vachifa nenzare. One day the devil shall ask him why going beyond devil agenda. Instead he should be in the forefront of uniting people. Ingawani president Mugabe acknowlowdged that it was a moment of madness. But still, its not very clear as this will never leave the affected people. 20 000 people who died during this period is not a joke. Baba ava ngavazive kuti chose chakasikwa namwari chinemagumo. If God allows him to live longer than what he expects, he shall answer and if he fails to answer himself his generation will be haunted by this. His utterances make us believe that his children will never stay in Zimbabwe and we suspect that some of his sons and daughters have sought citizenship somewhere because he shall asked directly or indirectly. Think about the Hitus and Tutsis. Stay cooll
