HPC recommends Pasuwa

HARARE - The Zifa High Performance Committee (HPC) on Wednesday night recommended that Calisto Pasuwa be appointed the substantive Warriors coach.

The Zifa board will now meet to rubber stamp the appointments made by the HPC.

Speaking after the meeting a member of the HPC told the Daily News that they had used the guiding principle that the Under-23 squad is the future of the national team.

Pasuwa and his technical team of Saul Chaminuka and Nation Dube will continue with the national team when the Cosafa Cup starts in South Africa next month.

There is a clash of dates between the start of the Cosafa Cup and the Under-23 2016 Olympic Games qualifier against Swaziland on May 23.

Pasuwa will remain behind with the Under-23 side while Chaminuka and Jairos Tapera will travel to Rustenburg for the Cosafa Cup match.

Immediately after the match against Swaziland, Pasuwa will fly directly to South Africa to join up with the Warriors squad.

Pasuwa and his technical team will also take charge of the Warriors squad that will take part in the 2017 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers against Malawi and Guinea in June and September respectively.

Go Mr Pasuwa,we know you can do it. Cast your nets wider than any other coach . We have big players abroad, look at Tendayi Darikwa and the others.
