Mutodi guns for Zanu PF Mash East chair

HARARE - Controversial businessman Energy Mutodi, who played a key role in the expulsion of former Vice President Joice Mujuru’s allies in Mashonaland East, has accused Aeneas Chigwedere and Joel Biggie Matiza of abusing the First Family’s name in their drive to land the Mash East Zanu PF provincial chairperson’s post.

Both Matiza and Chigwedere were not picking their phones and did not respond to questions sent to them via text messages yesterday.

According to Mutodi, who is also gunning for the Zanu PF Mash East chair, Chigwedere, the acting Mashonaland East provincial chairperson and Matiza, the minister of State for the faction-riddled province, have been claiming to be closely related to First Lady Grace Mugabe as they drum up support ahead of the party’s provincial elections scheduled for next month.

Chigwedere has been trailblazing in the province, smugly claiming that he occupied a high table when President Robert Mugabe officially married his wife Grace in 1996.

Like Grace, Chigwedere is of the Soko totem.

Mutodi alleged Chigwedere was claiming that he was among the president’s in-laws during his marriage rites.

Matiza is also reportedly claiming to be closely related to Mugabe’s influential wife, Mutodi said.

“The people of Mashonaland East are tired of people who seek power so they can use it to perform all sorts of abuse to them,” Mutodi said.

“They are being treated like people who do not think, who cannot decide on who should be their leaders.

“All the leaders who impose themselves like the way Chigwedere and Matiza are doing are appendages of party bigwigs whose agendas are not shared by the people.”

The political hotbed of Mashonaland East has also turned into a war zone between Zanu PF heavyweights who are keen to ensure their chosen candidates assume influential positions.

Zanu PF political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere reinstated his ally Chigwedere who had been suspended, reportedly, at the instigation of Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“It is not difficult to tell that both Chigwedere and Matiza are pretending to be loyal to the president,” Mutodi said.

“They are busy name dropping. Chigwedere is saying he took part in the party that saw the first lady being married to the president while Biggie Matiza is saying his wife is Grace’s young sister.”

Matiza is also accused of dishing out land to party youths so as to entice them into backing him for the coveted post.

What nonsense is this? Only stupid people will support people who are as good as dead. Any person who is still thinking that the Mugabes still have a role to play , then they are just fools. This Mutodi guy has a very big mouth that needs to be shut by a good kick . He talks a lot of rubbish as if he is in the central committee of ZANU pf.

Mr Mutodi stick to what you know best singing useless songs. You see whilst we envisage a zimbabwe that is blind to race colour and tribe ,here you are wishing and seeking to further weaken already divided and suffering zimbabweans by talking about useless things. If chigwewdere indeed sat at the highest table how is that going to transform into improved roads ,food security and democratic rights of freedom and expression. We tired of haasi wekuhurungwe because looking at our african history hurungwe was once an inhabited area and every one camefrom somewhere. Zimbabweans are tired of this one is ndebele , shona ,karanga and ndau . We are ONE. We are bound together not by the languangewe speak but by the belief that if a government continues to be despotic, zimbabweans have a right to remove that government. I mean what nonsense! To MR mliswa i would just like to say that the tree of freedom is watered by blood. Freedom is not easy to come by. We all have a part to play . To either die or spend time in prison so the country can enjoy the staus we once had. We have walked with our heads bowed for too long. Its time we stop this tribalistic ,selfish tendencies and assume the roles of liberators
