Good finish for De Jonge, Vincent

HARARE - Brendan de Jonge and Scott Vincent fired closing rounds of 71 and 73 to finish tied for 18th and 64th respectively at the RBC Heritage Classic staged at Harbour Town Golf Links in South Carolina, United States.

Playing in his first PGA event of his career, Vincent finished on even par 283 following rounds of 70, 70, 71 and 73.

The Viginia Tech University student’s score ensured he finished as the highest placed amateur.

It was a moment to savour for the Chapman Golf Club prodigy, who was teeing it up against the world’s most illustrious golfers, after earning a spot in the field courtesy of his victory in last summer’s Players Amateur.

Seasoned professional, de Jonge concluded on eight-under-par 276 to scoop US$69 325.

The 34-year-old shots rounds of 70, 68, 67 and 71.

Meanwhile, Jim Furyk edged Kevin Kisner in the second playoff hole to win his 17th career PGA Tour victory.

Furyk shot a final-round 8-under 63 and then birdied the second hole of a sudden-death playoff to win the RBC Heritage for his first PGA TOUR win in nearly five years.
