Allard wins Loxton Classic

HARARE - Top junior golfer Jack Allard shot a brilliant seven-under-par 65 to lift the Loxton Classic on Wednesday at the Bulawayo Golf Club.

He had earlier shot a morning score of 76.

Behind the 19-year-old was Justin Kersten who carded identical rounds of 71 and 71 for a gross score of 142 in the 36 hole tournament.

Tari Fundira assumed third place after firing 81 and 72 for a gross total of 145.

In the girls section, Emily Jones dominated with cards of 85 and 86 for a gross score of 171.

Margaret Nyamukondiwa claimed second place with scores of 87 and 86 whilst Tracey Humbira assumed third place with cards of 97 and 101.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday the junior golfers played the Matebeleland Championship which saw Kersten, Allard and Bekithemba Ndlovu dominate the field.

Allard led the field with scores of 72 and 75. He was closely followed by Justin Kersten on a gross score of 149 whilst Ndlovu closed out third place with scores of 73 and 77.

Nyamukondiwa won the girls category of the event after firing 87 and 87 for a gross total 174.
