Bosso fans heckle Mafu

BULAWAYO - There was drama at Barbourfields Stadium yesterday after disappointed Highlanders fans staged a demonstration against coach Bongani Mafu following the defeat to Chapungu.

This was Chapungu’s first win in the 2015 Castle Lager Premiership season, and did not go down well with the Bosso fans.

“Mafu! Mafu! Izwa amazwi ami. Lapho bebizwa abanye ma ubizwe lawe. Mafu Hamba! (Mafu! Mafu! Listen to my words. When others are being called out of Highlanders, may your name be included. Go Mafu!)

The rowdy Highlanders fans spent over 30 minutes dancing and singing at the match venue before marching to the club house.

Upon arrival, they continued with their singing demanding that club bosses axe Mafu, who was only appointed earlier this year to replace Kelvin Kaindu.

Some of the Bosso supporters were calling for Kaindu to be reinstated. The Zambian who was sacked last year is ironically having a good season with Triangle, a team which he has led to the top of the log.

The Lowveld side yesterday thrashed Harare giants CAPS United 4-0 at Gibbo Stadium.

After the match, Mafu had shown a brave face and admitted his team was not playing well.

“Losing at home in not good but for now the players need to calm down and play to our pattern. The players need to relax and gain confidence and remove the element of desperation,” he said.

“We did not come to the party. We never played our usual game. We lacked creativity, imagination and desire to win.”
