Harare derby set for Easter

HARARE - The first edition of the Harare derby between bitter rivals CAPS United and Dynamos will take place on Easter Monday according to the Castle Premier Soccer League.

According to the fixtures released yesterday by the league, all the clubs will play two matches inside four days in what could be a key period to all teams in shaping up their season.

How Mine and CAPS United will set the ball rolling when they clash at Luveve Stadium on Thursday in one of the matches that will be broadcast live on SuperSport.

Action will swing into full action on Good Friday with Harare City visiting Whawha at Ascot Stadium.

Chicken Inn will battle against newly-promoted Tsholotsho at Luveve while ZPC Kariba face Buffaloes at Gwanzura Stadium.

Highlanders will be at home against Hwange while Dynamos welcome newboys Dongo Sawmills at the National Sports Stadium.

On the same day, Triangle will host Chapungu at Gibbo Stadium.

Match day four will begin on Easter Sunday with Flame Lily hosting How Mine at Gwanzura while the match against Harare City and FC Platinum has been postponed as the platinum miners will be involved in the African Confederation Cup with a match against Young Africans of Tanzania.

Easter Monday will then see Dynamos and CAPS United coming face-to-face in what should be the biggest match of the Easter Holiday schedule.

The two teams have unfinished business having met thrice during the off-season break.

They first clashed in the Sino-Zim Cement Challenge Cup which Makepekepe won 6-5 after penalty shoot-out before DeMbare getting their revenge in Sunday’s Bob 91 Super Cup final where they triumphed 1-0.

The Glamour Boys then beat their rivals 2-1 in the Zimbabwe National Army Charities in a match both teams used mostly fringe players.

Easter Monday will also see Highlanders travel to Manicaland for a date against Buffaloes while Chapungu host ZPC Kariba at Ascot among other matches.
