Malajila for France

HARARE - Warriors striker Cuthbert Malajila, pictured, could soon secure a dream move into the big European leagues after it emerged yesterday that he is on the radar of French Ligue 1 side Lille.

Malajila is currently enjoying an outstanding season with his South African side Mamelodi Sundowns where he is the joint leading top goal scorer with Moeketsi Sekola of Free State Stars having scored 10 goals thus far.

And in the wake of his impressive season for the Brazilians in the Absa Premiership reports from South Africa yesterday revealed that the former Dynamos striker, is being closely monitored by Lille from France with a view to lure him to Europe in the near future.

A South African football magazine Soccer Laduma yesterday said: “Sources close to Sundowns and the Zimbabwean forward told Soccer Laduma that the French Ligue1 side is keeping a close eye on the 29-year-old player.”

The Mamelodi Sundowns striker has been in impressive form for the Chloorkop outfit in their league title-defence, helping the team reduce the gap with log leaders Kaizer Chiefs to eight points.

Initially, it was reported that Lille scouts were in South Africa for a closer look at Khama Billiat, but it has now since emerged that the French outfit is showing interest in both Zimbabweans from Sundowns.

Billiat, who is in the third of his five-year contract with Sundowns, is also in impressive form for the Brazilians chipping in with important goals.
