Vincent, Crocker on the rise

HARARE - Zimbabwean golf sensation Scott Vincent last week added another feather to his cap after being named the ACC Men’s Golfer of the Month for February.

This comes after Vincent recently tied for medalist honours at the season-opening Puerto Rico Classic.

He defeated three of the top 10 individuals in the tournament.

The Chapman Golf Club prodigy held the individual lead after the first round and carded a final-round four-under-par 68 to claim co-medalist honours in the event.

He tied Dru Love of Alabama at seven-under-par 209.

It marked the first medalist honours of the season for Vincent, who now has five top 10 finishes this year and four individual victories for his career.

The accolade sees him continue his thrilling run of form which has earned him rave reviews as one of the hottest properties at Virginia Tech College.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old who led the Zimbabwe Golf Association Order of Merit for 2010 also rose from 40th to position 32 on the World Amateur Golf Rankings last week.

The former St John’s College pupil is the highest ranked African amateur golfer.

He is closely followed by fellow countrymen Sean Crocker who recently won the US collegiate golf circuit.

Crocker moved from position 141 to 101 after sharing the individual title with American Zach Seabolt at the Jones Invitational, played out at the Valencia Country Club.
