Girls College win inter-schools' final

HARARE - Bulawayo's Girls College emerged victors at the girls inter-schools' swimming finals that concluded on Saturday at Harare's Les Brown Pool.

Although no long standing records tumbled, the finals were fiercely contested among participants from various schools across the country.

Girls College claimed overall honours with 362 points while Chisipite Senior School finished second on 358 points.

Chisipite had come into the finals as favourites following their exploits in the northern section swimming gala the previous weekend. They were also the defending champions having won the inter-schools' final swimming gala for the last several years.

But they, however, came unstuck against a spirited Girls College team.

Chisipite, however, had the consolation of winning the relay trophy that accounts for the total relay points in all age groups.

In third place was Harare Convent on 278 points, Hellenic Academy finished fourth on 265 whilst Peterhouse Girls were fifth on 260 points.

Arundel and Bulawayo's Convent settled for sixth and seventh respectfully on 190 points and 74 points.
