Anesu Masimba wins Mutare Grand Prix

HARARE - Zimbabwe chess player Anesu Masimba is the winner of this year's Mutare Grand Prix held over the weekend.

Masimba finished with six points, winning five games and drawing two from seven games played.

The 23-year-old was very excited with the win and is hoping to win more titles this year.

"The competition was very exciting, this is my first title as a senior player," Masimba told the Daily News yesterday.

"I think this is the start of good things to come, my hope this year is to win more titles. With the way I played over the weekend, I am confident that I will achieve more things this year.

"My immediate target is to win the Easter Open tournament. It is not going to be easy but I will put maximum effort.

"Another win will be a confidence booster going into the next tournaments."
