Mokoomba to light up Harare

HARARE - Award-winning Mokoomba, which performed 75 concerts in 15 countries in 2014, will kick-start its 2015 calendar on the Book Café Main Stage tomorrow.

The Victoria Falls band, which rose to national prominence when it won the 2008 Music Crossroads Inter-Regional Festival in Lilongwe, has two albums under its belt.

Their debut album Kweseka (2009), an electrifying mix of Afro-fusion rhythms and traditional Tonga beats, won them fans all over the world particularly in Europe.

Mokoomba’s second album Rising Tide (2012) was rated as “one of the World’s 10 best albums of the year” by the United Kingdom-based fROOTS magazine.

Macheso returns to New Life

Sungura musician Alick Macheso will kick off his weekend programme tonight at the Budiriro-based New Life Night Club.

On Sunday, the Tafadzwa singer and his Orchestra Mberikwazvo band will hold a family show at Extra Mile in the capital city.

Bev set to rock SA

Controversial dancer-cum-musician Beverly ‘Bev’ Sibanda is expected to dazzle her fans in the South African city of Cape Town where she will perform at Jimmy Jimalo Night Club tomorrow.

Rising afro-jazz musician David Hondoyedzomba will perform at Hala Hotel tonight.

The venue is located in Harare at corner 6th Street and Selous Avenue.

New club to be opened tonight

Reggae musician Baffalo X will be the star performer at tonight’s official opening of Royal Crown Sports at Chikwanha Shopping Centre in Chitungwiza.

Next Level Academy from the United States of America will share the stage with local rappers at the Mashoko Hip-Hop, dance, Djs and Spoken Word Concert set for the Book Café tomorrow night.

The Zimbabwean artistes to feature in tomorrow’s concert, which is presented by Magamba Network, include Digital Rebels (Bulawayo) and the Harare-based Charity Makawa, Black Anakin, Synik and several others.
