Boost for Southern Region Division One League

HARARE - Nokel Security Company have partnered Southern Region Division One Soccer league to bankroll the Top Goal Scorer of the Month award in the upcoming 2015 season.

The winner of the award will receive $150 each month.

Southern Region Division One Soccer League chairman Musa Mandaza showered praise on Nokel Security for their sponsorship.

“We are very happy with the Nikel sponsorship as this will bring more excitement to our league,” Mandaza told the Daily News yesterday.

“I think this sponsorship will certainly push our players to work extra hard, as every striker will be looking to win this award.”

Last season, Tsholotsho’s Edmore Chirambadare won the 2014 Zifa Southern Region Golden Boot with 23 goals.

His goal tally was 11 more than the PSL’s joint Golden Boot winners, Charles Sibanda and Kuda Musharu, who finished with 12 goals each.

Chirambadare has since moved to Bulawayo-based Premiership side Chicken Inn after his exploits with Tsholotsho last season.

Mandaza said the league is set to start on March 21.

“We have agreed in our AGM over the weekend that the league will kick-off on March 21, all the teams must register their players before March 16 and on their lists five players must be below the age of 20,” he said.

“We hope that all 16 teams will register before the deadline, for financial challenges I think it’s not only in football as you know that every sector is facing this problem but we pray that God will solve this challenge. We are looking ahead to have an exciting season.’’

Last season, Tsholotsho won promotion to the top flight league ahead of second-placed Technosphere and third-placed Black Boots.
