SA parly chaos as Malema MPs heckle Zuma

CAPE TOWN - South Africa's parliament descended into chaos as leftist MPs scuffled with security during a key annual speech by President Jacob Zuma.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), led by Julius Malema, repeatedly interrupted Mr Zuma, demanding answers over a spending scandal.

The speaker of parliament then ordered their removal, prompting scuffles.

The largest opposition party, the Democratic Alliance, walked out in protest at their expulsion.

"You can't send police into parliament," said Democratic Alliance parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane.

The EFF used President Zuma's annual State of the Nation speech to question him about a state-funded, multi-million dollar upgrade to his private residence.

They were evicted by large numbers of security guards. Among those thrown out was Mr Malema.

The SA parliament appears to be so much tolerant in the face of such serious unruly behaviour by the EFF. I want to suggest such tolerance is unprecedented in the world. The EFF is mistakenly taking democracy too far and the DA seems to have been baptised into those primitive antics. The DA leader must whip that guy back to civil;ised opposition strategies. These manouvres by these leaders are the sort of things that push rulers to use the might of the state and everyone including civilised oppositions will lose out. Fellow citizens do no allow such people like EFF and the current DA leadership to throttle the emerging democracies. Thank you Mongosuthu for denouncing such barbarism.

this malema guy seems quite a handful for zuma. i think zuma should explain how and why he used public funds for his nkandla project . if what mongers of rumour are saying got into julius' eyes then zuma has a task here. maybe indirectly malema is saying we want nuclear bomb- proof bunkers too, bunkers which nibiru will not destroy. if it involves public funds then it should benefit all south africans. that seems to be malema's cry.zuma is taking after j.k kennedy, obama and their likes who are rumoured to have constructed underground bunkers under their palaces for protection should a nuclear holocaust or nibiru strike.this is as far as rumour goes. president zuma, please explain to dispel this rumour. if you don't, then young malema will continue to have a field day of you.
