Muchekela back at DeMbare?

HARARE - Castle Premiership champions Dynamos have now appointed former midfielder Naison Muchekela to be David Mandigora’s second assistants judging by recent events.

Earlier reports had suggested that former Dynamos captain Murape Murape, who ended his playing career last season, had been earmarked to be one of Mandigora’s assistants together with Tonderai Ndiraya.

But yesterday it emerged that Muchekela, who gained coaching experience at the now defunct Division One side La Liga, was now the leading contender for that vacant post.

Muchekele was spotted at the DeMbare training session firstly on Thursday at the National Sports Stadium B Arena.

The Prince Edward School alumnus was also in attendance at the club’s training session helping with the coaching.

There has been no official communication from the club yet but however, sources in the DeMbare dressing room have maintained that Mandigora is keen to add Muchekela to his technical team.

“Muchekela was introduced to us a one of the assistant coaches when he first showed up at our training session on Thursday. Since then he has been coming to all our sessions and has been working together with the coaches,” a DeMbare player told the Daily News on Sunday.

The Glamour Boys’ secretary general Webster Chikengezha was, however, evasive about Muchekela’s role at the club.

“We have not appointed anyone yet to that position,” he said.

“We told the coaches to give us their recommendations before we can interview them. It is very clear that anyone who comes will have to be interviewed first. There is need to agree terms before someone can start work.

“If he was at the training ground maybe he had other business there. We will advise in due course if there is anything new.”
