MicInity launches album tonight

HARARE - Reggae star Mike “MicInity” Madamombe will launch his much-anticipated second album titled Survivor at Misty’s Newlands tonight.

Interestingly, the Marondera-born artiste is launching his 12-track new offering on his birthday.

Survivor, is being released four years after his successful debut offering Freedom.

All the songs on the album except the title track were produced at Konako Studios by Michael Murumbi who is better known on the Zimdancehall scene as PTK (Platinum the Killer).

The title track  Survivor was co-produced by Love Johns and Mix Masters.

Potential hits on the album include Song For Mama, a tribute to the Marondera-born artiste’s late mother and the romantic Girl You Look Good.

MicInity’s spokesperson Stuts Angie told the Daily News yesterday that the video for the title track will also be released during the album launch.

Zhakata dates Big Apple

Zora musician Leonard Zhakata, who is still basking in the glory of being the top ranked musician on the Radio Zimbabwe  Coca Cola Top 50, will entertain revellers at Big Apple Night Club in Harare tonight.

Zhakata landed the top two places in the year-end chart show for the songs, Dhonza Makomborero and Dollar Boy respectively and as such is expected to draw a big crowd.

The zora star appears well-positioned to bounce back to the glory he enjoyed around 2000 when he won the Video of the Year on ZTV for the song Pakuyambuka.

Prior to that, he had been a regular winner on both television and radio from 1994, but this purple patch abruptly ended due to perceptions that his songs were anti-government.

Dancers Association of Zimbabwe (Daz), the organisers of the event, have touted tonight’s show as one of the biggest events on this year’s dance calendar.

“We are happy to officially open the 2015 Daz calendar.

“This event is going to mark the return of the country’s best dance groups to business,” said Daz official Hapaguti ‘Harpers’ Mapimhidze, who doubles up as Bev’s manager.
