'A' Level results out

HARARE - The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) “A” Level results are out.

At least 82 percent of those who sat for the examinations passed.

Zimsec said the November 2014 examination results would be ready for collection beginning today.

“The total number of school candidates who sat for the November 2014 examination was 30 614 of whom 25 291 obtained a Grade E or better in two or more subjects. This gives a percentage pass rate of 82, 61 percent,” Zimsec said in a statement.

The examination board noted that female candidates performed better than their male counterparts.

“It was pleasing to note that the performance of females in 2014 was better than that for males though the number of females who wrote two or more subjects for both school and private candidates was less than that of the males,” Zimsec director Esau Nhandara said

“This better performance by female candidates could be that the females who proceed to ‘A’ Level are more determined and focused than males.”

Zimsec said the November 2014 “A” Level examinations were conducted without any incidents of leakages or malpractice nationwide.

“We would like to applaud the centre heads for a job well done,” the board said in a statement.
