High Court guardroom burnt

HARARE - A fire broke out at Harare’s High Court building on Wednesday night, reducing to ashes the premises’ guardroom.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) deputy secretary Walter Chikwanha refused to comment on the matter and referred the Daily News to the police.

“The matter is being investigated by the police, so it’s best that you contact the police,” Chikwanha said.

Police spokesperson Charity Charamba confirmed the incident.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police would like to confirm the occurrence of a fire incident at the Harare High Court on January 14, 2015 at 2145 hours.

“A security guard at the institution left an electric heater on in a wooden guardroom when he went on perimeter checks. The electric heater exploded leading to the fire,” she said.

In a statement, Charamba said the fire had destroyed some issue vouchers, two chairs, a table, two heaters, a steel cabinet, a telephone handset, a cell phone, seven cases of soft drinks and a window to the deputy registrar’s office. When the Daily News arrived at the High Court, only smoke stains could be seen on the walls, with no sign that there was once a guardroom.

Workers could be seen cleaning the floor where the guardroom was originally located.

Last year, unknown assailants broke into Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku’s office, stealing a desktop computer and a television set.

JSC has since increased the level of security at the Mashonganyika Building, which houses Chidyausiku’s offices.

My Jesus!!!!! Prophecy confirmation!!!!! Deut. 18 v 21-22 "You may say to yourselves, how can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord? If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken . That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him". Deuteronomy 18 v 18 -19 "I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their own people; I will put my words in the mouth of the prophet, who shall speak to them everything that I command. If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account." When a Prophet speaks the wise listen.
