PSL to inspect stadia

HARARE - The Premier Soccer League (PSL) was holding a pre-season executive meeting last night, with indications that several stadia across the country will be deemed unfit to host top-flight games in the new season.

PSL chief executive Kenny Ndebele last night said stadia used by both promoted clubs and old ones will undergo inspection ahead of the new 2015 season with indication that some will be condemned.

A damning medical report last season showed that a huge percentage of injuries were caused by the bad state of pitches.

One of the stadia expected to face serious scrutiny is Mutare’s Sakubva Stadium, which is used by army side Buffaloes.

Last season, newly-promoted ZPC Kariba were forced to play their home games in Harare due to the bad state of their Kamhunga Stadium in Kariba.
