How Mine release Magariro, Banda

HARARE - Defenders George Magariro and Gilbert Banda, ex-captains at Dynamos and Highlanders respectively, have been offloaded by How Mine with the ambitious Bulawayo club confirming the capture of Tawanda Muparati and Benjamin Marare.

Magariro and Banda, who in their prime skippered two of Zimbabwe’s biggest clubs, have been deemed surplus to requirement alongside goalkeeper Ephraim Mazarura, defender Brighton Dube and midfielder Edmore Muzanenhamo.

Efforts to contact How Mine secretary James Zibowa to shed light on the issue were fruitless, but coach Luke Masomere said “contracts for several players are not being renewed,” and adding that:

“We have brought in Tawanda Muparati, Benjamin Marereand and a 22-year-old Masvingo striker called Leftara Ndale.”

2013 Soccer Star of the Year Muparati has meanwhile agreed terms to join from champions Dynamos. He joins alongside Marere, himself as former Glamour Boys favourite.

Masomere said he was “satisfied” by the pair’s arrival.

“I’m looking for guys who add depth to the team. Tawanda Muparati and Benjamin Marare are such players.  It’s unfortunate that I cannot reveal more names at this stage as it might jeopardise  negotiations taking place,” said Masomere.
