Eight-year-old writer signed up by Innov8

HARARE - Eight-year-old Junior Mwase, who is probably Zimbabwe’s youngest published author, has entered into a marketing agreement with Inov8 Bookshop.

Under the arrangement, Innov8, which has seven branches in Bulawayo and Harare, will sell young Mwase’s two books

titled The Book of Life: Story Book and The Book of Life: Colouring Book.

Mwase, a Grade Two pupil at Selborne Routledge Primary School in Harare, is excited by the new opportunity to make his books available to many children in all the areas covered by Inov8 Bookshops which were set up by renowned motivational speaker Milton Kamwendo in 2009.

“I enjoy writing and I am sure other children will enjoy reading the books. The story book is for six to eight-year olds and the colouring book is for pre-school children,” he told the Daily News.

The two books were launched last year by Harare-based Creative Publishers’ Derrick Machekera, who described Mwase as an exceptional talent.

“Many people will obviously regard me as crazy to be publishing a eight-year-old’s work but this is an exceptional case. In his story book, there are three short stories in which he describes events in his life,” Machekera said at the books’ launch last year.
