Vengesayi wins City award

HARARE - Martin Vengesayi was named the Harare City 2014 Player of the Year at a function held last night to award the club’s outstanding players in the just ended season.

David Kutyauripo, who was part of this year’s Soccer Star of the Year finalists, won the team’s Players’ Player of the Year award while midfielder James Jamu was rewarded with the most Consistent Player of the Year award.

Osborne Mukuradare won the Golden Boot after finishing the season with the highest number of goals for the club.

Harare City had a difficult 2014 season which saw them part ways with head coach Bigboy Mawiwi for poor results before finishing 11th place on the log table, surviving relegation right on the last day.

The club’s hierarchy has thus decided to honour their outstanding stars. City, are one of the few financially stable outfits as they receive funding from the City of Harare.

City recently made changes to their technical team ahead of the forthcoming season with former Caps United coach Taurai Mangwiro replacing Dinyero as the head coach.
