Ruthless Falcon end UK tour

LONDON - Zimbabwean schoolboy rugby powerhouse Falcon College completed a satisfying tour of the United Kingdom at the weekend, recording two big wins and losing the last game narrowly.

The Matabeleland side – coached by former Sables centre Brendan French – first beat Crypt School 54-21 in Cheltenham last Monday before crossing over to Wales two days later, where they once again hit the half-century mark by hammering Glantaff School 57-5 in Cardiff.

They ended the tour with a 26-22 defeat to Hampton School in London at the weekend.

Falcon, nicknamed Maddogs, end a fruitful year on a high note in a season they also registered some good wins on their pre-season tour of South Africa before sweeping all before them at the Dairibord Schools Rugby Festival leading up to the season proper.

The UK tour was also part of events to commemorate the all-boys school’s 60th anniversary.

The Falconers looked well-organised and well-coached on tour, giving Zimbabwean rugby lots of hope for the future.
